SHORTCUTS TAKE TWICE AS LONG
Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to talk about taking the right path. The right path isn’t always the easiest or shortest path, but it is the path with the best results. I would like to share a story.
Years ago I had an employee/student. This student went through the ranks with me and worked my office. My goal was to give an opportunity to someone who needed it and to pass my experience to someone, I thought would benefit. Sometimes, however the true character of someone comes through and you are forced to make difficult decisions. I had to let this employee go after a few years and we had to part ways. After seeing his work ethic, I urged him to seek employment, and to not take shortcuts.
Unfortunately this fell on deaf ears. He became involved in marketing, which is not a bad endeavor. However he took a shortcut. IN any profession, especially marketing, you follow a process:
· Work towards a degree
· Intern at a firm
· After graduation work under someone in your profession
· After practical experience, then try it out on your own
This person, took a mastermind course (intended for business owners to work with each other, not to take the info and re-sell it for profit) Then went online and called himself a “marketing expert”, with no practical experience or a degree/education on the matter outside of a few weekend courses. A highly un-ethical practice, considering he is taking people’s money and their trust. Today years later he is still putting around with little to no success.
When we take a shortcut, we will have success, but it is fleeting. When we follow the difficult path, the success will be lasting.
